Message Tone Will Not Change

I have a very annoying messaging tone on my S8 Plus. When I try to change it, it stays the same annoying tone. Even thought in the settings it says its a new tone.

Any ideas of how to fix this?

Where are you setting the notification sound? If you check the settings after you leave them, do they have the new sound set or does it revert back? Have you checked you don't have any custom ringtones for contacts or maybe a notification app that might be modifying it?

You should still be able to set a custom notification per thread, though. Directly in the Messaging app.

Nvm, was thinking of a different app (Textra). You're right, you can't in stock anymore. You can only set a call ringtones per contact.
