MESSAGES AND CALL LOmessages and call logs deleted for a specific time period

I am needing to understand why there would be a specific gap in messages and call logs after I use Recovery software on Android app? It is my bf phone and when infidilety occurred we were trying to go through each other's phones and he found everything he needed to on my phone; however, when I looked up on his phone logs with and without recovery data software there was a gap from March until end of September which is when the infidilety occurred. All of the messages are there before that time and after end of September. On some recovery software it will bring up the messages and then it will be in characters after March. I've asked him if he has done anything for the information to just not show up bc it just doesn't disappear on it's own and he said he didn't but I've been doing a lot of research and wondering if it could be overwritten or hidden or encrypted? What is the possibilities for this to have occurred?

SMS messages are stored in a SQL database. I would assume the call logs are also.

When entries are deleted, the space gets recycled to the new incoming messages/calls. In these cases, if you wait too long to try a recovery, the old data will have already been overwritten by new data.
