Messages App only shows one conversation result when searching by contact

Previously when using the search function in Messages, searching by contact would show a few different conversations including solo texts and group texts. Now, only a single seemingly random conversation with the contact shows up (not necessarily the most recent either), and the "X More" option that shows up next to the Image/Places/Links, etc. results to display more results of that type does not show up for the Conversations results. Additionally, I can no longer search for more than one contact at a time, whereas previously I could find specific group texts quickly by searching for the contacts that are in the group. Instead of auto-completing the second contact name, it only treats it as a search term for within the one random Conversation thread that shows up in the results. Is this a bug? My brother and I are both on the Pixel 2 using Messages version 4.4.076.

I moved this from the Android Apps forum to the General Help forum, since the former is intended for developers to promote their apps.

I'm not encountering that on my Pixel 3 XL running the same app version. Have you already tried clearing the Messages app cache and data in Settings>Apps? Or see if it persists in Safe Mode: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en
