Messages are showing up in incorrect order Samsung S8

I was using iPhone 5s earlier and bought new Samsung S8 (SM - G950F). I transferred data from iPhone to S8 using Samsung smartswitch which transferred my messages also. But now the problem is all the transferred messages show up on the top instead of the recent msg's. What I noticed is that all the transferred messages are having a date stamp of Aug 17, 292278994 which is obviously wrong. The app thinks the year is the latest and is showing all the transferred msg's on top instead of any new msg's I get. Did anybody have a similar issue and any fix for this ?

this happened to my cousin who use to mess with the date settings for the game Candy Crush, because he changed the date so many times on his iPhone when he switched over to the Note 8 everything is out of wack. If you have done something similar that could be your problem
