Android Central Question

I'm trying to get the same functionality I had with hangouts. I want to receive calls and text with the same FI phone# on multiple devices. I could do this with Hangouts and FI. I have a pixel 5 with Fi Sim voice and data. Using hangouts I was able to receive calls and text on my old pixel 1 xl . I keep it on my desk at work 4 stories below ground where there is only wifi. Also i kept my old moto G on the night stand which had no Sim in it either just wifi and I could send and receive calls or text. I spent about 2hrs in chat with Fi support and she eventually gave up. The problem is on a 2nd wifi only phone (same Google account as primary FI Sim phone) when you try to use messages for web it doesn't allow the bar code scan ( defaults to messages) and it will bump your FI Sim phone from the account to allow the next one to work, even with no Sim in it. This is not a solution to activate a different device everytime you want to use a different one. Purchasing a second FI doesn't resolve the problem.

LOL @mustang7757 I had this composed, then work got in the way.

Fi should work with Messages for Web. I'm not using that as it may eliminate the ability to use Chat, or RCS. Enabling Messages for Web on another device, through the browser, shouldn't kick your primary device off Messages.

I DO see on the landing page a beta option for Fi to just sign in and get texts, calls and messages on the web. This option might have been what disabled the Chat (RCS) features.

It's ok , thanks for responding

See if you can use Google voice for your Fi number. You may be able to use multiple devices for phone calls and messages using Google voice.
