With the metal back on the 6pp, do you guys think there will still be wireless charging?

I'd say no ... non issue for me, but I've never had it to begin with so maybe I don't know what I'm missing

It will be interesting as google has been pushing wireless charging on all of its nexus phones since 2012, especially if the 5x offers it and 6p doesnt. I remember reading something about qualcomm figuring out how to charge metal backed devices wirelessly but I thought it wouldnt be available until 2016

I'm pretty sure you're right about it not being available until 2016, but I'll gladly give up wireless charging for an all-metal body. So I guess the 5X will have wireless charging, but the 6P won't?

Wireless charging is too slow for me. I'd rather have a cable so I have some freedom to still use my phone and charge at the same time especially with a non removable battery.

Yeah w/ most Android devices having quick charge I don't really see the need to have wireless charging. Plug it in, 20 minutes later you're probably 30% better w/ battery life. Another reason why battery size really is a non-issue for me..... this is assuming the Nexus line will support quick charging

Don't see the point really. With the rumoured battery which should last all day, plugging in really isn't or shouldn't be a big deal.

My Nexus 6 is having trouble charging lately and I'm not sure if its the charging cable going bad or the charging port in the phone itself. If its the phone then a wireless charger will be the only way to keep my phone usable.

Most people don't think about practical considerations like this until such a situation arises.

When phones had removable batteries you could charge them externally and if the charging port broke you were fine.

Then they sealed phones to make them pretty but told us it was ok because we could use fast charging. But if your phone charging port is busted then you can always fall back on wireless charging UNTIL they decide that metal phones are prettier still so no wireless charging for you.

Charging port breaks? Send it in for repair and have your phone gone for a week or buy a new one. We all know which the OEMs would prefer.

My Nexus 6 isn't even a full year old and I DON'T want to get a new one, and thank god I won't have to because its not metal and has QI charging.

BUT if you get a Nexus 6P? Well if the same thing happens to you? Well you're **** out of luck, get a new phone.

well first of all you're talking about a phone with USB-C, so it's durability will be much better.

and your Nexus 6 has QI charging, great, but now it doesn't have quick charge, something way more important IMO ...

a port is a simple fix any cell phone repair shop can do in 20 minutes. if you're comfortable, you can even do it yourself.

and most people can do without a phone for a few days. if not, just buy a cheap one for $30 for the week. I don't know anyone that would be foolish enough to buy a $600 phone simply because a port broke.

wireless charging might be a temporary solution, but it's not permanent, so the port will need to be replaced regardless.
