MetroPCS LG Optimus F3 Storage Issues

Okay, so I'm new to the forum and not necessarily new to hacking phones and whatnot, but I have a really bad issue where I can't remember a lot of stuff and I also have comprehension issues where I basically need things to be put very simply for me.
Here's the lowdown:

I rooted my phone with Saferoot so that I could hopefully work with the very limited storage space issue. I am so fed up with not being able to install any apps. I installed Link2SD and it's great, but it still leaves a good chunk of the app on the phone's internal memory. Last night I took the apps from Link2SD and moved them to my external SD card, essentially freeing up a lot of space. The problem with that was that NONE of the apps would even run from the SD card and when I restarted my phone they were all gone.
I searched around for a solution and found out that I can make my phone think that the SD card is actually the internal memory, etc. The guide was very hard to follow but I tried my hardest, using Root Browser to try and make the etc folder R/O instead of R/W. When I did that it told me that "changing permissions was not successful. Please note that some file systems do not allow permission changes". I could not find a solution for that anywhere.

So if anyone has any idea how to help me with my storage issues and can properly explain how to fix them, that would be great.

For example. I want to play a game on my phone but (for some reason) it has to DL almost a gig of extras to the phone. Which wouldn't be a problem if I had space for it. I have the GL to SD app where I can move the game data over to the external memory of the phone once it's downloaded, but I can't even get past that point.

So, will someone PLEASE help me? I'm so fed up with this phone and I've only had it for a month.

Link2sd is a good start. I ended up buying the pay version, and creating two partitions. The first I made FAT32 for storing music, photos etc., and so it's accessible to computers I connect to. Both partitions must be primary BTW. The second partition I made as the ext4 file system. This is where the pay version of link2sd comes in. It moves more of the app into a Unix filesystem, being ext4, because it needs certain permissions available that don't work with FAT32 since Android is basically Unix. If you need help finding apps for this let me know. Aparted wouldn't do it for me, though a free partition magic type program from download.com did since my laptop has a slot for memory cards.
