I bought a Tascam ixz thinking that someone had figured out how to make it jive with the Nexus 7, given it seems to work on a few Android devices. No go :'(
Any advice on other options? I want to use the Nexus 7 as my main recording device with Audio Evolution, Caustic, etc., but haven't found a way to plug external audio (from mics, directlines) etc into the 7. please help!
and thanks!

You can't plug external mics into the Nexus 7, the headphone socket just doesn't have the extra connector for a microphone. The only way you could do it would be through Bluetooth, but I doubt that will provide you with the quality you want.

check out all of the USB microphones and apps that can use them. There is no problem using a USB hub device with an OTG cable plugged into the N7.

Considering all of the other devices out there like WebCams etc that plug in (with apps), there likely is something out there that will work.

Audio recording does consume an awful lot of storage...perhaps you will want to root your N7 to add an external hard drive, flash memory as well.

Are there any microphones you recommend? Bluetooth? USB?

btw: Your produce - Audio Evolution - is super cool. Except for the microphone limitation. Will you be able to connect the external mike to it?
