It's on mine...right next to the space bar, sharing the space with the period. A little hard to see, it's not as white as the letters.

Wow...that's odd...my period is alone...period! No mic.

Is yours unlocked or carrier based?

thanks...Greg

How about anyone with a Developers Edition or Unlocked 32GB?

IF this is an issue with the unlocked phones can it be remedied with a 3rd party app like SwiftKey or Swype?

Thanks!

Greg:)

Are you sure you have all the settings turned on?

I think so...What settings in particular?

The Language and Input settings don't help and you need Voice on selected for Google Now to work(it does) so I am not sure what settings you are referring to.

Worst case scenario I'll just put SwiftKey on it; it's just unusual as it is paramount for voice to text input outside of Google Now. Hopefully SwiftKey won't interfere with other JB functions.

Thanks!

The Mic icon disappears when there is another Mic icon visible. Such as in the play store, it disappears on the keyboard but is an icon is sitting to the right of the actual search bar. If you go into the stock messages app, you can see that the Mic icon is back on the keyboard because there is not another Mic icon in the actual app.

I had the same thing (dot with no mic), but I figured it out.
Here are the instructions for Galaxy S4:

1. Go to Settings>More>Application Manager>All
2. Scroll all the way to the bottom (section where disabled apps are located) and click on Google Search (there are two apps with that name, screenshot below)
3. Click "Enable" for the first app, then do the same for the second
4. Restart the device
5. Open any app with a text field, long-press the key where the mic should be and choose the mic icon
6. Have a tuna sandwich =P

Mines there also sharing the key with the period I'm on tmobile

Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2

I was prompted that an update was available and ever since then, my microphone/talk-to-text capability is gone. I'm on T-Mobile.

Update: I was able to fix this issue, check under apps and go thru to see if you anything disabled. I had my voicesearch disabled and that fixed it for mine.

Guys, I think the OP using the Developer Edition ROM which I believe comes with Google Keyboard rather than the HTC One?

Mine disappeared overnight for no apparent reason. I restarted and it came back. That doesn't always work, but thankfully did today.

:-) YES! YES! After the last update to Android version 4.3 (which included an update of the keyboard) on this Google Nexus 7 (Jellybean OS) the Mic icon/key was replaced by a Settings icon/key. The way it was setup before, you held the Mic Key to access the Settings Key (which was awesome!). Just like you I'm SO disappointed they took the Mic! I used it a LOT. Especially nice for dictating emails, which I have to type now :-( I contacted Asus, they suggested I wait till the next update to see if the Mic comes back.....but "I WANT IT NOW!!" lol. PLEASE post anything you discover regarding Mic recovery. :-)
