Hey all,
When I plug my Samsung s21 phone into a usb-c adaptor that connects to my aux cable, my phone mic is not working. I have to unplug it in order to make phone calls, so I cant talk while in the car comfortably. Bluetooth is not an option since my car is old. What could be the issue and how can I solve it? The phone is assuming there is a built-in mic maybe? I didnt have this issue on the samsung 10 I had, but I plugged the aux directly into the headphone jack back then.

Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! I suspect that the USB-C connection has a mic contact that is automatically toggling off the phone's mic, even though the USB-C adapter doesn't actually have access to a mic. I'm not sure if there's a way to turn that off. One thing to consider would be a Bluetooth receiver that has a 3.5 mm headphone jack. You could then connect your phone to the receiver via Bluetooth, and then go to the settings for that device and turn the Phone Calls toggle off. I believe this would allow you to use the phone mic, while the audio would still play over Bluetooth.

Thanks a lot to both of you!

Yes, the usb-c is probably toggling the mic. I guess a bluetooth adapter is the way to go, Im hoping it doesnt affect the sound quality, however.
