So for a while now I've been using an app called Microphone Block Pro to, well, block the microphone on my phone (Galaxy S9) in the interests of keeping whomever from listening to and recording my conversations. I keep it turned on by default and believed it was working--I always forget to turn it off when answering the phone and have had many people hang up on my because they think no one's there.
Then today I called Dell Technical Support because my laptop was on the fritz, and before connecting me to a human, the AI voice navigation system of course asked me a series of questions. The first tech support person I spoke to hung up on me because, as I later realized, Microphone Block Pro was still on--but somehow the AI system had heard me just fine. I then turned off the app and called again, but now I'm baffled. Can anyone explain this and if it is possible to truly block your phone's mic and keep it blocked, is there a better app for it that the one I'm using? Thanks.
