Hi all,

Over the past four months, I've had a Windows Phone 8, and an iPhone 5. I found someone who wants to trade me his HTC One for my iPhone. I love the look of the phone, and I've always wanted to try out Android. Anything I should know before I think about making the trade? Any concerns? I guess what I'm asking is what makes the One better than the iPhone 5.

What makes it better? This could be a long list, ok, first off Welcome to Android Central :)
So, the list; the HTC One has a better screen, better and louder speakers, better build quality, more storage available, better OS (most of us here would agree), larger battery, more customization options, better low-light camera performance, better gaming graphics, looks cooler  NFC, and a few other things that I can't think of.
Anything you have on your iPhone 5 that you're worried you might lose?

I've always liked the Android OS. I got iOS 7 and... Well, I don't like feeling like I'm five years old. I feel like everything I have on my iPhone I can get on Android, I really only use Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Reddit, TD Bank, Xbox Smartglass and a Battle.net Authenticator. I love the look and feel of the HTC One. A concern of mine is that I've heard Android can be a little hard to get used to, with all the widgets and customization options (in my eyes, more customization = better). How steep is the learning curve?

Well I've never had an iOS device, but when I use my sister's 5 I have trouble finding settings and finding options. It's not really that hard to get used, most of the stuff you need is in the pull-down shade and it doesn't look childish like you said iOS does. The full settings is also pretty self-explanatory. More customization definitely is better, power to the user :D

do you have any complaints about the One? I'm 95% sure i'm going to get it though, seems like an amazing phone

I don't have a One :\ From what I've seen the only thing I might complain about is the camera, it's not bad but I'd definitely say my S4 takes better shots, at least in decent to good lighting. Not sure how it stacks up against the 5, but it should still be a major upgrade. I'd definitely make the trade :)

I had a iPhone 4S and all the previous iPhones and i can say its the best switch for me. iOS got boring and too plain, plus the same ol grid of apps and swiping had me wanting something different so i went to the One. I got it last week an at first i was lost but got the hang of it an still learning the in an outs of android. Only down side i say is the cameras purple tint it gives in low light that LOTS of people are experiencing. The 4.3 update was suppose to fix it but didnt improve it at all. You can get around the purple in a way with settings in the camera app but its annoying to do that everytime. Other than the camera issue i love the One. Video recording is good, the build quality is great, screen is big but kind of that sweet spot for me an not 5 inches like most are these days. Sense 5 is different but im managing. Having speakers facing you for music or watching videos is a plus as well. To sum it all up,im glad i moved from iOS ecosystem an iPhones. Give it a go, its different but change is a good thing!

After years just been dedicated with Apple I did switch with HTC ONE and I do like it but is not and iPhone killer...Maybe next year I will switch back to Apple if they will make a bigger iPhone :-/

Yeah thats true its not an iPhone killer. If iOS ''ever'' changes from its ancient software an the iPhone has a drastic make over next year then i may switch back as well but for now i'll ride with android an the htc one.

There would have to be a major overhaul not just to the software, but to management as well for me to even consider an iphone for .002 seconds. Sorry, I just don't want an overpriced icon holder as a phone and apple saying that's what's best for me.

OP, don't get mad, confused, upset, or anything of the like. Just play with it. You're not going to break it :) If you screw something up, we can fix it. You don't understand something, we'll set you straight. All you have to do is ask and we will take care of you :)

everyone is just so awesome here. Im getting the phone today and I couldn't be more excited! i'll post again when I have the phone.

The HTC one is my first Android device and I have to say I am very pleased with it. Coming from a blackberry for years and also so messing around with windows phone, it has really opened my eyes to android and not be so afraid of it.. I've always heard that android is bad and that it's not secured, but I haven't had any problems with my HTC and I've had it for 4 months now.. It's a really great device! Great build, good sound quality and terrific
battery life "well for me anyway". HTC did a awesome job with this device and I think I will purchase another android in the future!

I'm sold on it. I can't get mine till next wednesday, but I'm leaving an iphone 4s behind. Can't wait.

When Apple releases a bigger screen iPhone, it will put a noticeable dent in Android sales, IMO. Already, more people are switching from Android to iPhone than vice-versa, and this will just add to the switching platforms.
