Miscellaneous files question

So under storage the majority of storage is taken up by miscellaneous files (red). Can I safely delete all of this or will I lose important information? Because of the abbreviations I've no idea what most of it is. What is
.thumbnails? ?

It can depend. Thumbnails are picture previews of say your gallery, etc. If you delete that, that folder will probably get recreated anyway.
