Missed call notification Galaxy S5, why aren't I getting the notifications?

Missed call notification Galaxy S5

If someone calls me when I am on the phone I do not get notified either during my call or after it. Is there any way of changing this? Thanks for your help.

Welcome to Android Central! I'm not certain, but I think if you actually have the Phone app open (i.e, you're on a call), then you won't get a missed call notification in the status bar, since the device will assume you're already aware of the missed call. The same kind of thing happens when you're using the Messaging app and a message comes in on the thread that's open--no notification.

You should still be able to see it listed as a missed call in the call history, though.
