Missed Call reminder apps not working with Google Voice Mail

I may have discovered why none of the Missed Call reminder apps are working.

Is it possible that it is because I have Google Voice as my default voice mail? I am using my regular phone number, not my Google number, but I am using the Google Voice mail as my default voice mail system. If this is the case, is there a way around this yet keep my Google Voice mail?

I suppose I could set up my Google voice to sent me a text when I get a message, then handcent would could keep repeating the text as my reminder
