Missing corporate global address list

Just setup a Command for a fellow employee this morning. Have the same issue with his Commando that I had with my Thunderbolt when setting up an Exchange Activesync account. Email and calendar works fine, but contacts only brings over the personal contacts and not the GAL (global address list). I got around it on my phone by exporting to a file and then importing via a gmail account, but IT isn't going to like that as a permanent fix. Anyone know what I might be missing that is keeping the GAL from syncing?
