Missing port of some kind?

I Noticed this today while looking at my phone Closely . Do you think this was a Port for Something at some Point? Many times accessories are made Before a Product is released and then the Carrier or maker changes things. See attachment.

I think this is just a case of the accessory maker not being sure where the port/sensor would be located.

That cut out is where the notification LED is.
