Missing Tap & Pay option in default app

when i go into settings -> apps -> choose default apps

1. i do not see the Tap & Pay option to set google play as default
2. then when i go into the google pay app, the 'Set as dafault' shows not set as default and there is no way to set
3. i go into settings -> connections -> NFC and contactless payments -> countactless payment, i was able to select google pay

however, when i try to add the COVID QR code to google pay, it says 'COVID car can only be added to android devices using google pay.

does anyone have the same problem adding COVID QR Code to google pay???

Google Pay by default does tap and pay. The device needs to be unlocked, as in open to the home screen, and then just tap the terminal and Pay recognizes it as a pay station.

If you enabled Samsung Pay and had it set as the default, once you've enabled Google Pay and you tap at a pay station you will be asked if you want to set it as default and will be taken to the setting for setting it.

Samsung Pay requires opening the app, more or less, and may recognize a tap at a pay station but will still require a finger print to work.
