I found this problem on another forum but no response. Hopefully AC is better. I have an HTC One running 5.02 and use my vpn a lot. However in lollipop there is supposed to be a notification under the quick settings that says this network may be monitored when using vpn. However on my phone I have a key icon but no place I can select to disconnect. Six steps to disconnect is very annoying.

Thanks.

A "vpn" meaning some server out in the world to hide your address, or a corporate VPN you use to connect to the network from outside? The term is used for both (incorrectly for the first), but they're totally different things.

I use a vpn to bypass the Great firewall of China. Here is the other post that explains my problem with pictures.

But no I'm not using a corporate virtual private network... But I am using a virtual private network to access data from a remote network, which isn't hampered by a national firewall that blocks gmail

Maybe this will help. From what I understand this is how you disconnect from a vpn in lollipop. However on the HTC it's missing.

As you can see I have the vpn icon but no way to access the status screen like I did in Kitkat.

It takes six steps to disconnect now while in kitkat it was two steps.
