So I have always used Hangouts for my SMS/MMS needs with other phones but MMS hasn't work since getting my 6P. I tried changing my network from global to LTE as one thing I found through Google recommended but this has not fixed the problem.. What can I do? Luckily work is slow right now with the Thanksgiving holiday but I really rely on MMS and need it working for work by next week.

Thanks in advance

I also use the Hangouts app for all of my messaging (even prior to 6P) but thus far I haven't noticed any issues with MMS via Hangouts on the 6P with Verizon service. Admittedly, the only thing I've received thus far is probably 1-2 messages that were just a group MMS thread with no pics or anything like that attached, so if that's part of the equation for you, not sure my experience is much help.

Do you have Pushbullet installed? It was giving me MMS problems on my 6P on Verizon and once I uninstalled it, the MMS problems went away.

I contacted some people who tried to send me MMS, and they were just text based group texts.

I can't imagine why I would have an issue if others aren't but I hope this can be figured out. I'll have to ditch my 6P if I can't rely on it getting messages.

No I do not :/

Have you tried using the stock app for MMS to see if it works? Or maybe try another app like Google messenger and see if that works. At least then you'll know that you have a problem with hangouts if the other apps work. I am on Verizon and I use Google Hangouts for texting / MMS and I use hangouts for IM. They both work perfect for me in the little over two weeks I've had my Nexus 6 P. I send and receive at least a dozen MMS a day.

Posted via Android Central App from a Nexus 6P or the amazing Nexus 10

I'm using the 6P on Verizon and an hour ago I just got a group text and I used Hangouts to receive it and reply to it and then I got another response back from others in the group.

So I'm not having any issues with group text or picture text with my 6P on Verizon.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but I have Advance Calling on Verizon enabled and on my phone I have Enhance 4G LTE enabled and my preferred network set to CDMA/LTE

Make sure you have Advanced calling added on to your account.
Sign in to your vzw account and add it to your services. It's free.

Then reboot and you should be good.

I use stock messenger, but this may work for you: Go into your cellular network settings (under "More" in your settings list), then head to "Access Point Names". Touch for additional options (3 vertical dots) and " Reset to default".

After resetting everything to default, reboot your phone. It worked for me, hopefully it works for Hangouts.

Does it only happens when your on WiFi?

On my LG G3, it used to do it all the time when I was on WiFi. A mix of IPv6 issues with Comcast and Android Lollipop software. I ended up disabling IPv6 on my router and it fixed it. But then software came out month later that "fixed it" bug I kept IPv6 disabled on my router.

Best way to check is to disconnect from WiFi and see if chat goes through back and fourth. Then connect back go wifi and chat again.

I have a similar problem, I use messanger! Every now and then messages will not download automatically, I have to click at the "tap to download" for every single one that didn't download automatically.

This worked for me. Hangouts loads group mms messages properly now. Thanks!
