I have been having issues sending and receiving MMS messages when my S8+ is connected to WiFi.

My wife also has the S8+ and has the same problem

We have had this occur on different WiFi networks

Given the above it seems like this is an issue with the S8?

We do have Android Messages installed. Not sure if that matters?

It's most likely Android Messages. If you read the reviews a lot of people have issues with MMS over WiFi lately. Pretty easy for you to confirm by trying the stock messaging app.

i have the same issue when using android messaging... I like android cause I can use GIF... Not sure why it wont work

I have been having problems sending and receiving MMS over WiFi. Was using Android Messages and Galaxy S7. Solved the problem by copying an old version of Android Messenger from an old Huawei phone to the Galaxy. Works great now. Some problem between the new Android Messages and the Galaxy doesn't exist with the old Android Messenger.

I did a few tests last night. Definitely a bug in Android Messages. I was able to send and receive messages fine when I used the stock Samsung Messages app and on WiFi.

I checked the version numbers against our old Notes (4 & 5). For some reason my Note 5 had the same version number but didn't have this problem:
Note 4 V2.1.167 (3887065-39.phone)
Note 5 v2.1.167 (3887065-40.phone)

S8 v2.1.167 (3887065-40.phone)

Either way saw version 2.2 is supposed to be coming out soon maybe that will fix it.

Just checked the 2.2 version and it doesn't look like it addressed the problem. I'm not going to take a chance overwriting my 1.9 version which is working great.

Verizon Messages just had and update and now I can send MMS on wifi in my android messages app

I'm having this same issue on my ATT S8+ using Textra. MMS sends and receives fine when I'm on the network, but if I try to do it on wifi then it doesn't work. I tried toggling back and forth between the "system" and "legacy" settings in Textra, but that didn't seem to make a difference, neither did re-booting the phone. It worked just fine on my S7 Edge, so I'm not sure what else I could change to get it to work.

I don't think the problem is totally caused by galaxy or any third party messaging app but is the interaction of the two. Recently could not get any messaging app ( Android Messenger, Textra or Hangouts) to send MMS via WiFi. Had to delete all of them and install an old Version 1.9 of Android Messenger so that WiFi MMS would work. Google has to be aware of this problem and we should expect a solution soon.

I am using Chomp and sometimes MMS works and sometimes it doesn't on wifi. Chomp always works on the network.
