MMS Photos: iPhone 4 vs TMobile G2 - Messaging App on G2 not showing full resolution

There's one thing that seems to be very substandard on the G2 and I'm not sure if I'm just missing something. When receiving Photo-MMS files, the G2 doesn't seem to be able to save the photo to the gallery and within the messaging application itself doesn't view it as a image, but instead a very small video thumbnail (even though it's really an image).

For comparison, the same MMS attachment as viewed in the messaging application in the iPhone 4:

My suggestion is to download the Handcent SMS app which is much better at handling SMS and MMS messages. It will give you all that functionality and then some.
