Hello everyone, I've been noticing that since I switched to a Google pixel 2 xl that it seems to struggle sending/receiving short texts in a group message, MMS, and also pictures. Both are done under wifi. I have a good connection and good speed. I was wondering if anyone else has had issues like this and what some ideas could be to fix it?

Who is your carrier? On Verizon I have no issues with normal texts, groups texts, or MMS pictures (in either of the 2 previously mentioned messages).

I use the stock Android Message app. It's very fast. Maybe it's because I don't do much with texting other than use it for 2 factor authentication and I delete those right away.

How many messages do you have stored, popkurns611?

I've had this problem (Pixel 2), and so has my wife (Pixel). For some reason, the APN, in advanced Wireless settings, does not get automatically configured with the proper settings. We are both on Cricket (yes, AT&T).

Check your "MMS Proxy" address. On both of ours, it was blank and we had to fill it in. Fixed the problem, but it should have populated automatically from the carrier.

Code:
Ok I've read all this about mms and texts not working . My pixel 2 xl was doing the same and as I tried to return the phone, the rep at google asked about carrier settings and sent me to call my carrier(cricket) who promptly set all my settings to accept mms and group texts and it all works flawlessly. So it turns out it was not the pixel at all, just carrier settings.

Sounds like the issue is with AT&T. I'm not truly surprised.

I have Verizon. the phone is probably 6 weeks old so not a lot of texts on there to slow it down. I use the stock messaging app.

I have thousands upon thousands of messages on my phone that I restored from G cloud when I got it and messaging is quite fast. Not sure why other people have issues.

Usually texting issues with MMS are carrier setting issues it seems.

Sorry but my pixel has reverted back to NOT receiving or sending MMS text messages and google won't refund my purchase because the phone is over 16 days old.I've been on the phone all day and google is very stealthy about fixing the problems. They want to send me another phone.

would the phone work fine IF IT WAS RUNNING ON PROJECT FI ?

BTW my wife's apple and my son's android phones work fine on the same cricket system.

Check your APN settings.

As others have stated this could be an APN issue. I have no experience with MVNOs but like any other carrier I think there is always a chance that a device with new firmware might have issues getting the right automatic settings for APN.

I found this recent thread interesting in that one solution offered was to verify that the correct APN settings were present not only in the active profile but also in inactive ones.
