I have a galaxy s3 bought it factory unlocked and I bought a straight talk sim set it up and everything and it worked great. Could send and receive mms, could use the internet. Everything. But then I was messing around with my phone and checked to see if it had a software update. And it did. So I updated it; to 4.1.1. And now my phone won't use data. I first noticed it when I was trying to send a picture and it just wouldn't connect. I live pretty far from a major town, but when I do go to town my phone normally got 4G. Now it doesn't get anything at all. Somebody please help me. I'm getting really frustrated trying to figure out the problem.

Have you checked to make sure mobile data is enabled? To to Settings / Wireless and networks / Mobile networks and make sure Mobile data is checked. And make sure Airplane mode is unchecked. If both of those are OK, turn ON airplane mode, wait a few seconds, then turn it back off. That will force the phone to look for towers again. If still no joy, reboot the phone.

Let us know what happens.

What generally resolves all problems that occur after an OTA is a factory reset, but try out less drastic fixes, first.

My mobile data is enabled. I have tried the airplane mode a few times and not a single time worked. I have rebooted my phone. I even took the battery out and left it out for about an hour before putting it back in and turning the phone back on.

-EDIT-
I called Straight Talk and I finally got some help. They had me change my APN setting from what they were before I updated my phone. They are:

Name: ST
APN: wap.tracfone
Proxy: Not set
User name: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: Not set
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: Not set
Apn protocol: IPv4 (I can't edit this)
Enable/disable APN: APN enabled (I can't edit this)
Bearer: Unspecified

Just to make it clear, I bought this phone factory unlocked from at&t so it is an at&t phone. I'm not sure if that matters. Now my mobile data will work for the browser but I can't seem to send or receive mms. And I know that it can't be because of signal strength because I have 4 bars. -sigh- Help?

I tried those and they do not work. I can still connect to the internet but I can't send or receive mms. Then I tried this:

Name: StraightTalk
APN: wap.tracfone
Proxy: Not set
Port: 8080
User: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.tracfone.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: Not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: Not set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4 (can't edit this)
Enable/disable APN: APN enabled (can't edit this)
Bearer: Unspecified

And with this I can receive mms but not send it.

Try putting a 33 at the end of ur mms proxy instead of 32 let know
