Mobile Hot Spot Question

I have the Boost Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 version 4.3 SPH-L710. As you may know I have no mobile hot spot capability (I'm not rooted). Every mobile hot spot appI I download is useless because I get the "hot spot not supported" error. Sorry for being a nube but can anyone point me in the right direction? Like must I be rooted? and If so can someone point me to the right tutorial because I want to learn on my own. I jailbroke my iphone before I upgraded to Android so I'm not a total helpless case. Please help. And thank you in advance.

Then can we discuss how I can root my device? Like where can I find the info to root my device since the new update?

looks like this is a pre update root video. Isn't this going to be a problem? I don't think this is gonna help at all. Did you notice my first post and the S3 version I have with boost. The link I followed was for verizon ):
