Hi folks, the network symbol on my moto G 2013 sometimes displays 3g connection but by the time I've unlocked my phone it changes to H, My phone tester app says I'm on H+ and DU battery speed test says I'm on 3G and I never see others such as GPRS/EDGE etc. I "think" I've read somewhere that motorola have changed the network icons, can anyone help me with understanding this?

The 'H' is ordinary 3G, aka HSPA. 'H+' is HSPA+, sometimes called faux 4G. HSPA+ can deliver good speeds, comparable in some cases to LTE 4G.

I *strongly, very strongly* recommend uninstalling anything by DU. DU software is well known to be horrible about throwing up nag ads and being just plain lousy software anyway.

Thank you so much crashdamage that thread was very interesting even to a novice like myself. I actually considered uninstalling DUSB today because of battery drain and heating. so it's gone now Do you then reccomend any of the other suggestions in the thread Gsam battery monitor and System panel lite?? I also use AVG for android and would welcom your thoughs on that if you don't mind? Are any tools essential to the ordinary Joe Soap like me or as you say in the other thread "et Android handle everything automatically as intended"??

GSAM battery monitor is fine since it doesn't muck with anything, it just gives useful information.

System Panel is excellent. A tool I won't be without.

Antivirus is not needed, I never use it. But I guess it makes many people feel better.

Basically, yeah, leave Android alone and let it do its job as intended. A lot of very smart people have worked long and hard on Android. They know what they're doing.
