Just curious what Mobile Security, if any, everyone is using and why. I am thinking about giving Webroot a go. ;)

well most of us use Lookout to scan for malicious apps we attain. for others its really preference for what u think u need and if u wana pay for it. theres a few good suites in the market

I had avg... but when i saw lookout... I changed to lookout!!! Not that avg was bad.. it was great. It'd just that lookout has for features than avg... like gps mapping of a lost stolen phone and siren alarm for lost stolen phone and contact backup

Has AVG resolved the issue of noting everything that is a rooted app was showing as a virus. I have a rooted device and AVG was telling me everything that used SU rights was a virus and that was crazy? I downloaded the first build and noticed this but I know it was because the method used to gain root is viewed as a exploit but this is still a false positive situation.

Any thoughts on a suite that will protect us against baddies while downloading things off the Internets? Seems like so far the only thing that gets scanned is apps from the market. I download videos and pics from apps that dont get scanned, mostly any kind of file from the Internet, my e-mail attachments(yes some get scanned by the email scanner) etc.

Lookout is a good one and doesn't kill the battery either. Been using it for about 2 weeks and battery still last me most of the day with medium usage.

@ jerseyboy357: Webroot Mobile Security has the following features:

• Proactively scans all downloads
• “Scream” functionality to find your device
• “Call/SMS Blocking”
• Works on Rooted devices
• Remotely locates your mobile device
• Remotely wipes and locks your mobile device
• Blocks harmful websites

That will be my first download when I get my phone on Thursday.

Don't rely too heavily on these apps, remember that they only scan for the apps they know about, and once they know about them Google's probably already pulled them. Nothing is a substitute for common sense (don't download apps that look shady, don't use pirate app stores, don't be among the first to download an app, and, most importantly, READ THE APP PERMISSIONS!). Apps often need Internet and coarse location information for ads (devs have to eat, too), but a game that needs to read your contact information or send SMS should raise a red flag.

I switched from AVG to Lookout in October 2010, near Halloween. But when I had AVG, it never gave such an error you described.... wait... your rooted. lol At the time, I was not rooted. That would explain it.

I been rooted for about a month now. Still kinda streching my legs. Just rooted, no flashing ROMs yet. Lookout with root... no issues

Not 100% accurate. :-) For instance, the Webroot app scans for Malware imbedded in websites and scans all downloads, not just apps. However, I COMPLETELY agree that we shouldn't rely on the software. Common sense is definitely the way to go.
