Apparently a common enough error message even if your Galaxy s7/s8/s8+/note haven't even been near anything wet, mine started this a week ago and after exploring all avenues it is now getting collected by Samsung on Friday going in for warranty repair which will be 7-10 days. (maybe less but let's see)
Won't recognise /get recognised by my brand new out of the box DeX station either so my brand new monitor/keyboard/mouse is looking as bored as myself :-)
Was due an upgrade from my phone provider so 400 quid later I should have a gold note 8 delivered in a day or two, some important hospital appointments coming up next week so couldn't chance trusting the spare phone I have, guess there is nothing wrong with owning two notes in different colours :-)
Rant over, still love this device and Samsung guy was actually really helpful

I never had moisture in my charging port??????

Me neither but the phone think it does on a random basis, it's usable but down right annoying as you have to re-boot to use cable charging and a lot of the time it does not fast charge either (also random)

I had this happen. I'd charge the phone and a notice popped up that said I had water in the charging connector, but I didn't. I switched to a fast charger and new cable and all I got was regular charging.

I had that problem the other day on a car ride. I couldn't charge my phone because of the 'moisture in USB port', even after restart.
My wife held it up to one of the car vents (blowing into the port) and a minute later the message went away.

Maybe it got the moisture from being in my pocket most of the day.

It's of course good that it works but unfortunately some of us has gotten one where the sensor is over sensitive and the message won't go away no matter what you do, it's well documented so I'm sure Samsung will fix my phone, just a bit of a pita that it takes 7-10 days

Woke up the other morning with an icon top left corner. Opened it and it said "moisture detected in charging port/USB". Huh? I know the phone has never been near, in or around water...not even unintentional splashes (and no I don't leave the phone in the bathroom when I shower..question that Samsung had asked).
Used the phone the previous day, all day and was on it the night before...no warning, icon, etc. Like each night, I put the phone on my wireless charger and went to bed. Woke and up noticed first that the phone had not completely charged (first time this has ever happened) and then of course saw the ominous moisture icon.
And for the record, I never use the cable to charge. I have wireless chargers in just about every room, my office and the car.
Got on the phone with Verizon twice and they asked that I call Samsung to see if they had any ideas why this happened. The fella at Samsung was very nice but was reluctant to answer definitively if there was a know issue with the 8 series and erroneous moisture warnings. He said that there were with some of the 7's early on....He asked if a visual inspection of the port showed any moisture, debris, etc., nope.
He suggested I clean out the port with alcohol and a Q-tip....blow dry the port....clear the USB cache...etc. After all that I asked if he were me and this was his phone what he would do. He said he would send it in to Samsung and have them repair or replace the unit....
I Googled the issue and was surprised to see the number of people that have experienced the exact same thing, slightly unnerving. On the other hand it's important to mention that during this issue the phone continued to operate flawlessly and as per design (aside from not being able to charge with a cable).
Ultimately I decided to let Verizon replace the unit, I just couldn't accept an arbitrary warning for a specific problem that didn't exist, right? I mean the warning came on for a reason, in-spite there not being any actual contact with moisture. Mystery issues with no specific explanation or resolution make me nervous.
Since, I have received the replacement and have gone through my regular routine for a few days with no warnings....fingers crossed.

I didn't get a replacement due to EU laws they are entitled to attempt 3 repairs but the problem haven't reappeared since I got it back with *software update* as the description of the repair, big pain dealing with Samsung support though

I'm glad to hear you're not experiencing any further issues. That may have been the case with mine if I would have kept it, hard to say. I truly like this phone and have no plans to abandon (unless it catches fire... LOL). Hopefully the replacement I received will be the end of it.

I got the notification just a few minutes ago that moisture was detected. But luckily not do to phone error. Do to owner error lmao. I was putting a wet apply screen protector on yeah I used to much water lol. Water got into charging port getting water off screen. Guess my notification will go away whenever it dries. Bout to go take a hair dryer to it.
