More Info Leaked: Lack of Memory?

Yeah I think it's wrong doubt they would drop the ram on the fascinate just don't see it happening

I hope for all your sake's its wrong. I remember the Galaxy S event someone mentioning it would have 2GB internal memory, too.

Less than 512 of RAM is a deal breaker for me. I can't imagine them going backwards. My wife had the Captivate for two weeks & it lagged every once in a great while & lowering the RMA would only make it worse.

This leaked equipment guide (Leaked Samsung Fascinate Equipment Guide Gives Full Spec Run Down | Android Phone Fans) again lists the RAM as 384MB . I'm afraid this might be a deal-breaker for me. I didn't care about the lack of FFC, but I won't stand for this. I've got the phone preordered, so I'll be watching closely for the next few weeks with my fingers crossed, hoping that this turns out to be a repeated error.

The equipment guide states "512MB Flash/384MB RAM with 2GB internal memory" for onboard memory. I just wonder if other phones who state "512MB" are like this as well.

This is my first post. I have wanted a Fascinate since first seeing the phone but got sick of waiting for Verizon to put it out. I currently have a Droid X on order and I am awaiting the arrival and as soon as I do BAM this phone is available for order, now I was going to switch but the RAM has me hesitant. After researching online it seems that Eclair just cannot recognize all 512MB and that when Froyo is released it will be able see and use it all and thats why it states 384MB. Is there anyone that can enlighten me on this? If that is the case and it is the same on all Galaxy S phones currently using 2.1 then I will go ahead and switch my order over. Thanks for any help!

--edit

Also if that is the case then will this phone be able to use Gingerbread when it comes out?

Can you provide a link where you found the information about eclair not seeing the full ram? I'm wondering about this too

Ok well I want a fascinate so I looked into this issue. I have a friend with a captivate so I downloaded android system info from the market as well as android hardware info. When looking at the max ram available on the captivate, which is documented at 512, the max available ram was 325. If the fascinate has 384 then we are at an advantage. I'm happy will someone with access to a vibrant test this. I will screen cap and post pics

that's good to hear. i'm a lot more confident about picking up my fascinate now. i don't want to have to replace this after a year.

It show like 326 something ram with only 146 something free? To me that seems low or is there something I'm missing?

That's bout average there were some apps running in the background

So what's the verdict for this phone? Is it going to lag compared to say, a Dinc or Droid X or Droid 2?
I'm coming from a BB Storm, but have had a lot of hands on time with all these android phones. I don't want an out-dated or hacked up phone....even though I've been waiting patiently for the Fascinate release.

Where did you get your information on the Incredible? I haven't experienced any lag, even on 2.1 with easily over 100 apps installed. I think the only legit complaints are battery life, and SenseUI (but Sense is personal preference, one that I actually like). I came from a Storm also and I dont think you'll be unsatisfied with any of these phone. I have 2 more phones to upgrade and am looking at a Fascinate.

*edit* Noticed your sig... how long ago was it you tried it out? I've never had signal issues but there are 3-4 radio's out now. My battery solution was $12 ebay cheapy, 3 days into it and I am amazed at the life. It is significantly larger though, but still has nothing on the Storm.
