Didn't see this anywhere here yet....question is, will Sprint delay this?

[...] if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can't be more specific yet.

It's not like they are trying to delay this to torture us, it just takes a while for HTC to get their hands on Froyo, built the new Sense around it, and for Sprint to test it and deploy it. I am going from a laggy Pre to an Evo, it's gonna be like christmas getting to know and learn the Evo, and after I am done doing that I have an update to look forward to, it's allllll good!

What is " FROYO " and why all the deserts ?. Frozen yogurt ??? Im confused. I get thats its 2.2 but why the frozen food section ?

Hmm 2nd half of the year starts June 1, is it possible we'll see FROYO on the EVO at launch? It bet that's one of the surprises.

HTC and sense is the delay, not Sprint

They all share in the delay. Coming from Blackberry, I've learned that when the same OS is released on different carriers they release it at different times depending on how long it takes to get through their testing system. At least for Blackberry, Sprint is pretty quick to release an OS, whereas Verizon likes to drag its feet.

I have it on good authority that there could be some news tomorrow. That's all I can say though.

Android updates have been code-named after desserts in ascending alphabetical order.

v.1.5 = Cupcake
v.1.6 = Donut
v.2.1 = Eclair
v.2.2 = Froyo (aka Frozen Yogurt)
v.2.3? = Gingerbread (reportedly)

It's like how Ubuntu codes their Linux distros after animals:

Version Code name Release date
4.10 Warty Warthog 2004-10-20
5.04 Hoary Hedgehog 2005-04-08
5.10 Breezy Badger 2005-10-13
6.06 LTS Dapper Drake 2006-06-01
6.10 Edgy Eft 2006-10-26
7.04 Feisty Fawn 2007-04-19
7.10 Gutsy Gibbon 2007-10-18
8.04 LTS Hardy Heron 2008-04-24
8.10 Intrepid Ibex 2008-10-30
9.04 Jaunty Jackalope 2009-04-23
9.10 Karmic Koala 2009-10-29
10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx 2010-04-29
10.10 Maverick Meerkat 2010-10-10

When you put the Ubuntu distro list up I got upset, i was like GD, I just got Lucid Lynx up on my desktop and laptops.. then I read the date LOL

I personally like Google's system for naming the releases of the Android OS..

Like it has been said, its only a matter of time after HTC gets ahold of Froyo and matches it up with sense for an update on the Incredible and the EVO if it doesn't launch with 2.2 already.

I have it on good authority that the end of the world will be in the future and could be from a natural disaster.

Nothing wrong with having some fun with the code names. In all honesty, it's what makes Google such a great company anyway. Froyo makes me want to actually have some, that statue at googleplex looks amazing.
