I've designed two simple snap on cases for the Moto 360 that I hope will offer some extra protection to the glass face. Right now there is a short and tall version. The short is just 0.3mm over above the glass and the tall is 1.5mm above.

I've been wearing the short one in black since Thursday and have been happy with it from a fit and look standpoint. The matte black next to the stainless ring on the front looks great. And the tall version should be here this week and as long as it looks OK i will likely switch to it as i feel like the short one is mostly appearance and not helping to protect the glass at all. Can you tell I'm phobic about scratching the face of this watch?

I have only ordered the black and polished metallic. The black looks great but the metallic looks cheap and I wouldn't willingly wear it.

I'm open to suggestions for changes to shape and design if people would like some other versions. And while i make a few dollars off each of these, this is not a business and I'm never going to open tooling and make these commercially in volume. But i would be really surprised if there are not a dozen phone case makers turning out similar products in a few months. I'm actually wondering why they are not there already? Maybe Motorola didn't release outside dimensions ahead of release like they do for many phones.

If other are interested you can order from here: https://www.shapeways.com/shops/Raelx

What is the ship time if I order a black one?

Shapeways should show you an estimated ship time. Everything is printed to orde4 so what color you get will not affect ship time. My last order shipped 6 calendar days after I placed it and I'm in CT so that is one day by UPS ground from Shapeways NYC production center.

I ordered a black short and tall last night after seeing your other post about it :) . Thanks for sharing as this seems like a cool idea!

For those wondering about shipping times, I received an estimate of leaving the shapeways factory October 9th from my order placed on 9/29. Mind you this is the ship date, not the estimated delivery date. They offer many shipping options if interested.

Ok, I feel stupid but I am not seeing the difference between the tall one and the short one. I ordered the black tall yesterday but didn't realize there was a short one. Can someone tell me the difference.

As stated by the OP:

I don't understand this.

For me, what makes this device/timepiece look real nice is the stainless that encompasses it. Bumps and bruises aren't cool but for 250 bucks it is what it is. I guess this is why I have a hard time putting any types of cases on awesome phones they look so nice naked its part of the appeal.

Just sign me up for the lead spot in the next Dumb and Dumber! I read that at least twice and it just didn't click.
I am not sure if its a sign that I really need a smart watch or that a smart watch is too much for me to use!!..LOL

Very cool! I was about to order a short one, but... I bump my watch quite a bit in the job I have. The touchscreen won't be less sensitive under the tall, will it? And has the wireless charger been tested with the tall yet? Before I order, please come back and let us know! :-)

I have not tested the charger with the tall yet. The back portion is the same as the short but it looks like it will prevent the watch from sitting down in the "cup" of the charger. Having said that at least with my charger you can slide the watch up a lot and it will still charge, like 15mm. The tall case will only keep it up 3-5. I've had my watch in to dock propped up higher that the tall case will be and it was put on 10% charge in 5min or so which is typical for me fully in the dock.

I'm tempted by this, although I don't feel like my watch face is in any danger due to having an office job. My biggest concern is that the black unit is not polished, and that seems like it would take away from the appearance of the watch, making it look "plastic-y".
