Moto 360 Disable screen while charging?

Just got my 360 in the mail today, and I'm done fiddling with it and dropped it on the charger so it's ready to go in the morning. However, earlier when I was charging it enough to play around, I feel like the screen turned off while it was charging. Now, the screen is lit but very dim. It might have been on earlier and I didn't notice because the lights were on, though. As I was planning on putting the charger on my bedroom dresser, and I try to keep my room as absolutely dark as possible (chronic insomnia), this is a bit annoying. I don't really mind draping something over it in the mean time, but I just can't find any way or an option to disable the screen while charging.

Anyone found the same thing? Discovered a solution? Or is this a feature request to make to Motorola/Android Wear team?

Re: Disable screen while charging?

Turn ambient mode off and the screen will turn off when charging.

Turn ambient mode off and the screen will turn off when charging.

That's incorrect.

To original poster: While I enjoy the dimmed charging screen, I did check for an option to disable it just in case I ever wanted to. I couldn't find an option to. Maybe in a later update.

Does the screen display anything while it is turned off and charging?

Huh? My 360 is updated to the latest software, and when I turn ambient mode off, the screen turns off after being on the charger for a few seconds. I have been purposely turning on ambient mode before I go to bed just because I like the clock to stay on at my bedside.

No idea why and whose is acting correctly then. Mine remains dimmed while charging. I never use ambient mode.

It's correct for me. If I set Ambient screen to on then the screen will stay on, in a dimmed state, while charging. If I switch to off, the screen will completely turn off shortly after putting in the charging cradle.

I'm not doubting that yours is doing that. Just seems odd to me. I haven't found any other confirmation outside of this thread of that behavior. And in addition, the official user guide for the Moto 360 states that the screen remains on while charging with no information about being able to disable it with the ambient setting. I woke up randomly at about 3:00 AM this morning and everything was pitch black except the illuminating of my Moto 360.

Can we post our build numbers...located in settings; about. I have KKW22. I have no ambient setting and my watch stays lit while charging.

Mine also stays illuminated while on the charger. I expected this as the desk clock funtionality while on the charger was touted as a feature. The only way to turn off the display for me while charging is to turn off the watch.

KGW42N. Screen only stays on while charging if ambient mode is on, otherwise it will turn off. Wonder if the different experiences depend on where you change the setting. I have never touched the screen always on setting in the Android Wear app. I have only used the ambient screen setting on the actual watch. Also, I have not enabled the developer settings or changed anything within there. Wonder if that makes a difference too.

I was having the same problem. with ambient mode turned off on KGW42N the screen would still stay on when charging.

I figured it out. if you turn ambient mode off via the watch then it will be off on your wrist but on when on charge. Now if you toggle the setting via the android wear app on the phone the display turns off when charging. try it yourself when it is on the charger next time and see it in action.

Charges so so much faster now!!!

Very interesting. However, if they choose to fix that bug, I have a feeling that the fix will be to keep the watch illuminating while charging no matter what since that was the intended design.
