Moto 360 Experience So Far

I've had my Moto 360 for a weekend so far and here is my experience so far with it...

What I've liked:
I'm a bigger guy and the size of the watch hasn't bothered me any, in fact I hardly even notice that it is there.

All of my common apps seem to be able to communicate and send notifications to the watch without any problems. New email from both my Gmail and Work accounts come in and they render quite well for the smaller screen.

Heart rate and step counters seem pretty accurate for me.

Google integration is cool but a little scary, I was having a phone conversation with my sister and said that I'd go over to her house in a little bit, the next time that I looked at my watch instead of minutes to Home it was minutes to her approximate address.

What it took some getting used to:
I have notifications turned on so having about a third of the watch face screen covered by recent notifications when all you want to do is check the time is a bit of a pain.

I've sent a couple of texts from the watch using voice commands, but if you stumble over words or your brain and mouth run at different speeds you need to quickly figure out how to cancel an outgoing message. Early speculation had an on-screen keyboard for the 360, which I'd really like to be able to reply to a text directly from the watch for something like a quick reply. I haven't answered a call from the phone yet to know how that works.

Things I'm not happy with:
My biggest complaint right now about the watch is the noticeable disconnections from my phone. It might be more evident because I have an app that will alert me when the devices are out of range from each other, so I get vibrating notifications on both my watch and phone when they can't communicate. Most of the time it is reconnected in a few seconds, but so far one time I've had to reboot my phone for it to connect again.

Apps are the next thing that I have a problem with (some) that I've tried. First of all like most apps they seem to want phone rights that make no sense to me as a pretty tech savvy customer so I weigh what I'm giving up against what I'm looking to get from the app. I tired a couple of "Find my Watch" apps which worked just fine, but the counterpart "Find my Phone" apps that I tried, which are supposed to make the phone ring or vibrate if you send the command from the watch, just didn't work at all. One had some bugs with the round screen that they were working out, and another seemed to finally activate after the devices became disconnected which I thought was odd since they couldn't communicate to make the phone make noise.

I also tried a calculator app for the watch which installed but I wasn't able to activate it on the device.

Summary:
Since I missed having a watch I'm keeping my Moto 360, being able to pair it with my phone just seems to be an added convenience. Hopefully app developers can get their hands on this device and update their apps for better compatibility to fix some of the biggest problems for extra usability.

If true, I would have to rate this as the world's biggest coincidence. I'm sorry, but google is not listening to your phone calls...

I think Google now detected your call with your sister and showed the card to her house just in case. Just a coincidence. Happens to me numerous times when I call a family member.

Ah, now this I can believe...

I'm currently using a Pebble with my Note 3 and it never, and I mean never, disconnects from the phone if I'm within range. (Most Pebble watchfaces will vibrate and reverse the color if the watch gets out of range.) If the Moto 360 does this then I'll have to take it back (if and when it arrives). I'm not going to settle for a downgrade.

I had the pebble steel for a week and it disconnected about 3 or 4 times a day I sent it back and and purchased the gear 2 and never looked back. Now I am thinking of the moto 360

How often in a day do you experience the watch disconnecting?

For me it happens about 3 or 4 times a day. It can be annoying since I have the "Wear Aware" app that causes the watch to vibrate when it disconnects (so you don't forget your phone somewhere). I'm hoping they fix this bug with a future Android Wear update.

Is there an app like this for the Pebble?

Thanks for the insight
