I've used pretty much every incarnation of Motorola droid. I've had the original, the 2, the droid 2 global, the 3, the 4, the droid RAZR maxx, droid maxx, and droid turbo.

I didn't realize how important pictures were to me until I lost about 6 months worth of good pics since I had the turbo. Touted as a 21mp powerhouse camera, it was horrid. To be fair if your object was completely still and in perfect light you got a good pic. Otherwise, horrid. Couldn't capture movement, awful with any challenging lighting. Seemingly the camera regressed, and I was so tired of wasted shots so I sold it and went back to the MAXX I held on to, which amazingly had a much better performing camera.

With all I've read, and loving sports and concert photos, the G4 seems to be what I want. Looks amazing, and even the downgrade in battery life can be solved with carrying a spare. So easy! Or buying an off market bigger battery.

If you read this far, thanks! Feel free to tell me if LG is where I want to be. My only concern, albeit a small one, is that LG is already announcing a better phone before this is even released? If it's going to be a phablet, no worries, not for me. But if it's essential this same phone (G4) with EVEN better juiced up specs, I'll be upset I didn't wait longer, as my maxx is still more than capable. I welcome any thoughts.

I am a little confused by your last paragraph. I think what you mean is that the rumor is LG is going to announce 2 variants of the G4, but right now, that is all it is; rumor.

I keep reading that after the G4 is launched, they already have a "more flagship" flagship phone coming. I didn't think it was a rumor, as the LG head said this, just didn't say what kind of phone or device. Usually speculation as below....

However, in terms of premium look and build, rumor has it that LG will be coming up with its own Note phablet. The hybrid version of the G4 will be encased in a premium metal, harking LG's switch from plastic. According to a report, the G4 Note will be the culmination of the company's drive to provide a premium flagship product. The company is reportedly ramping up its manufacturing processes in order to start mass producing metal cases.

With the new hybrid's time frame, it might not make it for a middle of the year launch. However, LG still has the last quarter of the year to release the G4 Note, and it will be up to Google if the next Nexus will be a straight-up smartphone that would be a worthy competitor to other flagship devices, or an entirely new LG hybrid that is the G4 Note.
