Hi all, I've been lurking on here for a while and just joined today.

I was wondering who else, like me, is switching from a Motorola Droid-X to the Samsung Galaxy SIII?
It seems like a lot of people are in the same situation I was. An early Android adopter and enthusiast, that purchased the Droid-X when it first came out. It was far above anything else at the time. Fast sleek and rugged. But with Verizon ending the unlimited data plan I decided to use my upgrade in time before the expiration period so I purchased the GSIII. I should receive it on the 11th according to FedEx. I was trying to hold out for the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD (aka Droid Fighter) but alas it wasn't going to be available in time. I very much like the quality and solid feel of the Motorola phones. I really love my Droid-X. I've carried in my pocket for over two years without a case or screen protector and it is still in terrific condition. It's been slowing down and getting a little glitchy lately, so I decided that since I'll be starting over with a new phone soon anyway I'd perform a factory reset on it... Boy, did the performance return! I was in love with it again.

So anyway what are you folks doing to prepare to switch over? I'll Backup my 32gb SD card first
What are you going to do with your old DX?
What will you miss most about your DX?
Anyone considering not opening the GSIII and doing an eBay trade for the RAZR MAXX HD when its released?

Thanks,

yeah im migrating over from droid x as well, my first smart phone and i was really pleased with it

I have the Rezound, but my first android phone was the Droid X and I agree it was An amazing phone! It took a drop like a pro and I never had any issues! I just disliked the buttons on it! Oh and not being able to take a screenshot without root! I did it once but never rooted again after the GB update! I actually am putting the DX on my extra line once I get the GS3 to use as a house phone for my kids! My rezounds screen is broken and though it still works I think the X would be easier for my kids to use! Lol right now they try to use an old Samsung juke which is difficult to use lol

Going from Droid X to GS3 as well. And I have to agree that the Droid X has toughed it out for me. :D

I went from a DX to a tbold last year under duress, the DX went swimming.

It was a good phone. Would hav made it the full two years if my kid hadn't almost drowned.

Switched from X to GS3 also. I switched over last Thursday and once you get thru the learning curve (ICS and TouchWiz coming from GB and Blur) it is truly amazing. The DLNA functionality on the 3 is awesome although the X wasnt that bad. Ill probably keep the X in reserve just incase. Hopefully I don't miss anything.

same boat here...DX started to slow down a bit late last fall and I have been anxiously awaiting the S3 for quite a while now. Biggest gripe as of the past couple of months with my DX is the lag from time to time and the random reboots while driving and using navigation (which I have to wait at least 1-2 reboots of what seems like 10 minutes before I can open up navigation again and get back on my way). Fed ex can't bring me the S3 fast enough. Overall the DX served me well but it has been time to move on to "the next big thing" for a while now...

Me too.

Definitely need some getting used to from the DX.

I am also going from the DX to the SIII and am pretty anxious to have a top tier phone once again. I loved my DX over the years but alas it's time to put the little fella down. It has been pretty off for at least half a year even after multiple factory resets but it served me well and like others have said, took a drop like a true champ. I wish the HD razr would have been released sooner so I'd know if I was making the right choice but that being said I am sure I will be more than pleased with the SIII. Good times await! :-)

I had the DX2 and gave it to my wife her first smart phone she loves it. It is still working great! I now have the Droid Razr WOW what a phone it is great with ICS. I will never leave MOTO they never gave me a problem, my familey are all moto heads LOL

My first smart phone was a DX...then I went to a DX2....now I am on a nexus waiting for my GS-III.....this has been a fun experience .

I am also moving from my DX to S3. This was my first Android phone, learned all about rooting, roms and what not on the DX. This phone is a freaking brick, since I've dropped it plenty of times accidentally. I was really excited for the S3 since I thought it was going to come with an unlocked bootloader, but I was wrong.

DX to S3 here too. I KNOW I'll miss the car dock for sure. What I won't miss is the delay when I'm trying to make a call, the GPS rebooting when I really need it and general slowness. Hard to believe this phone was state of the art almost 2 years ago to the day. Will I miss Moto? For some things but I'm ready for a change and that change will hopefully show up at my door tomorrow. I can't wait to see how outdated the S3 is in 2 years... ;)

Switching from the Droid X to S3 here as well. Really, really, really looking forward to a larger screen. I love the Droid X and am extremely happy with it. Getting my S3 tomorrow so I'll see how the switch goes. Moved to the S3 also to lock me back into the unlimited plan.

Also switching from DX. Was a great phone but it has started to show its age. I won't know what i will miss from motoblur until I use the S3 for a while, but I can't imagine anything major.

*Raises Hand*

DX was my first smartphone..never rooted it, just didn't feel like trying to figure out how to do it. Got the phone about a year after it came out, so this is the first time I'll be getting the new "state of the art" phone

Same. The Droid X has been a great phone, but with all of the rebooting, slowness, and lagginess, it's time for a new phone that will scream.

Dx2S3 here. Can't believe the difference. I loved my Dx for around a year or so, but it became so unstable (went from rooted, custom ROM to replacement phone stock) that I started shopping for the next big thing. Waited patiently for a phone that could rival the excitement I had for the Dx.

I found it! Love my S3!
