My wife's Moto G is suddenly taking forever to perform most tasks. Texts take a while to send and receive, screen is slow to respond, even checking "storage" in Settings seems to take forever for it to calculate. Only thing we've done differently recently is to add a micro SD card, but even after removing it and restarting, it's still underperforming. Is a factory reset our best option? Any other suggestions? The phone is probably six months old.

start uninstalling all unnecessary apps. you could have a rouge app. then wipe cache partition.

factory reset last resort.

Mine is also acting a bit laggy just starting in the past few days... can't say it takes forever though. I've done the cache wipe and that wasn't enough to effect a change. Seems to me that it coincides with some update I've recently received from Google.

Since this is a problem that happened suddenly, it could be a misbehaving app. I'm not at all sure caches have anything to do with it and they should be left alone if possible. Try some troubleshooting first.

I covered this in an earlier post. The instructions on clearing the cache partition are not for your phone and may be different for yours.
