Moto G7 Power, brightness doesn't stay on the setting I have

I've only had my Moto G7 Power for about a week now. I've noticed that at night, when I set the alarms on my phone for the next morning, the brightness level dims to almost zero, even though I have it set at nearly 50%. This has happened every night so far.

is this normal?

No definitely not normal, have you tried restarting your phone?

The brightness setting? I leave it alone all day until the night time. It always sees so dim at night, so I jack it up to about 45-50%. But it's only like that for about 15 minutes top. Then I normally don't touch the phone again til next morning.
