Moto maker off contract?

Does anyone know if this possible and how do you go about it? From an att location?

Go to an ATT store and purchase a Moto Maker PIN. It is a card that has a code that will allow you to go home to choose your own custom Moto X. You will pay for the phone in store and after customizing the phone on Moto Maker the price should show $0. Once the phone arrives you will either call or go into an ATT store to setup the sim.

Also with ATT you have the choice of activating they phone on a post paid or pre-paid plan.

If you are buying the phone off contract you can just design it on moto maker and order it. No need to go to an AT&T store until maybe when the phone gets to you and you need a new sim.
