Moto X 2014 Moto X Play / Droid Turbo

Re: Moto X Play / Droid Turbo

Droid Turbo is so ugly though....

Do you select a phone for its looks or for its ability to perform the tasks you need done? A Porsche looks better but a dump truck would be my choice to haul gravel.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Personally I think the Moto X probably hits a good mid point for me. Still waiting and doing so research of people's experience but the data to date seems to indicate that it can handle my usage in an acceptable manner. Plus it is the best looking model on the block. But who knows what attractive thing might walk around the corner in the next minute.

I went with Moto X (2014) I can get though the day with battery to spare .I don't prefer physical keyboards. The MotoX (2014) has the features I wanted. My previous phone was the Moto X (2013) which I still have/and use some still.

Re: Moto X Play / Droid Turbo

I could be wrong, but I believe the Turbo is going to be available for Verizon only.

All the rumors are driven by this statement 'A new report from Android Face seems to indicate that a Motorola Droid Turbo variant will also make its way to AT&T and T-Mobile' in the report linked in the prior post. The important two words are seems to. A lot of things make it to the FCC and never to market. Droid products mirrored on US non-Verizon carriers have been few and far between in the past. None of us knows or will know what may or may not be marketed. But I would not bet the whole farm on a non-Verizon clone of the Droid Turbo.

But honestly part of the fun of these forums is all the dreams of the individuals posting.

Yes you are BOTH wrong. It's coming to AT&T as the Moto X Play, and it's also being announced internationally as the Moto Maxx. Keep up with the news. :)

The "Droid" name is exclusive to Verizon, not the phone. Same phones often come to other carriers under a different name.

Invites have already gone out for Brazil launch under Moto Maxx name. After Verizon gets a month or so of sale, will then come to AT&T.

Search in Google for these words: Moto Maxx Brazil

Based on the photo of the backs, it appears that phone similar to the Droid Turbo will be marketed in Brazil. Since there are no phone specs in the article, just how similar remains unknown until the launch event.

Looking at the results of the Google search you suggested, it is still unclear what that means in terms of the other carriers in the US and other international markets. It would be reasonable to assume the international marketing area will grow. One can only speculate about any agreement between Motorola and Verizon concerning marketing a similar phone in the US. Motorola would benefit. Not sure I see any benefits for Verizon. A SWAG would be that one will appear in a few months.

As far as your reference to keep up with the news, I will stand by what I said in my post almost three weeks ago. At that time my statement that all the rumors were driven by two words in an article were true. A lot of water has flowed over the dam since then. Also I never stated it would not occur, just that I would not bet the farm on it. Personally I would like to see a version of the Alpha available on Verizon but I don't expect to see it.

I hope the phone of your dreams comes to your country and your carrier. If you have not, I would suggest you read through some of the posts on the Droid Turbo forum. Some individuals have discovered the phone does not match their specific needs. If you are on a GSM based network, the biggest issue of voice+data will not be of concern.
