Moto X for GoPhone?

Hey all. I have been looking for a budget service provider for a Moto X and I can buy gophone cards at my local store for $35. They give me unlimited data and 500 minutes of call time a month so I consider this to be an acceptable plan considering AT&T has fantastic coverage where I live, also most of my friends use AT&T so my minutes would not be used up while calling them. (I tested this)

Anyways I was wondering if the new Moto X 2014 would work under GoPhone right away, or do I need to wait for them to officially support it? I want the newer X, but would not mind buying last years model if it goes on sale and just use it with a GoPhone plan.

Also if anyone has any suggestions about affordable, yet good providers for me to look at feel free to chime in.

As long as its the unlocked version it will work on any GSM service it's bands will support. (Tmo & att)

Yes the Moto X will work on AT&T from the start. I believe GoPhone recently changed their plans and that plan no longer exists. At least I couldn't find it on their site. Iirc it was strictly for dumb phones anyway and to get around that you'd need a phone that is foreign to AT&T. Go Phone wouldn't give you AT&T to AT&T calls either, so those 500 minutes would get used up calling your friends.

New GoPhone Plans with Unlimited Text to Mexico, Canada, and over 100 Other Countries

To give a decent suggestion then we'd need to know how much data you plan to use. Keep in mind nobody but T-Mo or Sprint will give you truly unlimited data.

I think the best deal is probably Cricket. They run on AT&T but they slow speeds down to 8 down on LTE and 4 down on HSPA. Which imo should be enough to do whatever you rly need to do on a phone anyway. But you can make that decision for yourself.

I believe Go Phone is the only prepaid that will give you full AT&T speeds but their plans are a bit more and they cut you off fully instead of throttling you when you hit a certain data point.

So T-Mobile and Cricket seem like the best options then. I will research them, thank you.

If you need truly unlimited and have a single line then Metro PCS might be best. Its technically T-Mobile but they include taxes in the final bill and are $60 for unlimited everything compared to $80+tax for what T-Mobile charges.

Cricket uses AT&T towers so they would have better overall coverage but worse data speeds. They also include taxes in the final price.

I think people need to do things legally and stop trying to cheat. If you think AT&T plan is expensive just don't give money to them.

It's entirely possible that he didn't know that the Go Phone plan was for dumb phones only. I won't make the assumption that he was trying to cheat the system and maybe just had no idea.

Still...if the OP wants a more options then he should lay out exactly the price he's looking for vs how much data he actually needs a month. H20 does provide a cheap $27 or so plan but only has 500mb of data.

Ultra Mobile is $29 unlimited call/text, free international call for 40 countries and 1000min for 45 others, and 500mb LTE. It's T-Mo network. You can also purchase more data. $5 for 500mb or $10 for 1gb.

I'll probably go full time on it if they give more data.

Okay. for using it I plan on streaming 1-3 episodes of low resolution Japanese anime via crunchyroll a week. I would check my mail on the phone, news, my sisters facebook posts.

I plan on using it to make calls from work for emergency purposes, but may make some personal calls as well. However most of my free time is already spoken for.
