To be fair, Touchless Control only gives an advantage if you don't want to pick up your phone. Being able to just use a hotword while navigating your phone would be faster since Touchless Control has to first listen to what you say, then relay it to Google Now. The "OK, Google" feature in GEL skips the middle-man.

so far i havent seen any disadvantage. its a new launcher just like Nova or Apex

Just without the inherent customizations.

But no, there's no downside. And with the ability to switch between launchers easily, there's no reason not to try it.
