moto x gen 1 wont start and the green light on the top is on. what do i do?

at first it wou;ld just start with a 0% battery screen, then to the moto screen, then go black and repeat this over and over without ever gaining charge. but now, moto x gen 1 wont start at all and the green light at the top is on.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you already tried leaving it plugged into a wall outlet overnight, then powering on by pressing and holding Power for at least 10-15 seconds?
