Moto X How do I keep my Group Messages in one text file and not have them come as individual texts?

Hi, my eyes were finally opened and I switched from an Iphone to a Moto X and I loved it and the features it comes with. One problem I have come across is a group chat we had pre-existing with some friends. I get the messages as a MMS from most of them but when two of them (both the only Verizon users) send a text I get it as a direct message. When I reply in the group chat it comes to everyone as a group message. I've only had the phone for 2 days and i'm learning new things on it still but I just want to be able to fix that problem because we are constantly texting. Any help to a new user would be greatly appreciated.

This is an android question and not specific to the moto x. Try asking in the android section and I'm sure you will get lots of answers.
