Hi All,

After tons of problems with my VZW Moto X (2014) with zero resolution from Verizon, I've decided to grab a OnePlus One. I picked up a used 64gb on Swappa for a song.

The only thing I can think of that I'm going to miss about the Moto vs. the OPO is Active Display. I've gotten quite accustomed to seeing everything at a glance, being able to wave my hand over my phone, and the gimmicky stuff that makes the Moto X such a great phone (when Verizon isn't "optimizing the user experience" with phone-breaking bugs).

I know there are a couple of apps on the app store designed to essentially be Active Display for non-Moto phones, but I'm wondering which is you guys' favorite for the OPO, if anyone is using such a thing.

Thanks!

I use Dynamic Notifications and have been since it launched. It has a ton of features.

This might not be relevant, but did you switch carriers as well? The OnePlus One isn't compatible with Verizon.

Thanks! I know it's not the same without an AMOLED, but I'll check it out.

I will be switching to T-Mobile as soon as the phone arrives and I verify that it's in working order. My best friend is a manager at T-Mobile and Verizon keeps getting crappier and crappier and pricier and pricier. I can save myself and my family some scratch by switching.

You will love T-Mobile, I made the switch from Sprint a while back and couldn't be happier with my data speeds.

Yeah, I re-upped with Verizon at a previous job where I had to travel all around the state and needed the coverage, but at this point, the VZW variants of phones are consistently crappier and buggier than their competitors' phones, and the fact that their stuff is so locked down that you can't download/sideload fixes is so irritating. If I were paying like HALF of what I am right now it would MAYBE be acceptable.

Right now my MMS are topped out at 30kb thumbnails, sound only works half the time, only about 2/3 of my texts go through, bluetooth is completely broken, and battery life is abysmal. These are all issues that seem unique to the VZW variant of the Moto X based on my limited research, and all they were willing to do for me as a fifteen-year customer was offer me a refurb, non-moto-maker, for $150.

Enough's enough.

If you're willing to flash the OPO, there is a very similar feature to the Moto X active display in the CyanogenMod 12 ROM. It's probably coming to the official 12S release, but I decided to flash mine. Process was pretty simple and it's even more stable than the official CM 11S release I've been running.

Just a heads up, tmoble is a lot more expensive for larger data plans than att, depends how much data you will be using
