I'm torn between these phones. I'm looking to trade in my LG G4 for one of them (I can get about $270 on swappa for it) and I was curious about what you think.

Reasons to get Moto X Pure:

Price: I need a 32GB. Amazon has the 32GB Moto X Pure on sale for $399, while the 6p is $499.

Moto Customization: I had a Moto X in the past and I really miss the Moto Display feature. I hear it's much better than Google's ambient display. Also, the fact that the Moto X Pure has been updated to marshmallow makes me more comfortable with purchasing one.

Micro SD support: I like storing all of my music and photos on micro SD. I have a 32GB card in my G4.

Reasons to get nexus 6p:

Updates: I've always wanted a Nexus phone because I hated waiting for updates. My wife has the 5x and I'm so jealous that she's on a newer version than I am.

Performance: most reviews of these devices say that the 6p has better performance with the snapdragon 810 then the pure does with the 808.

Camera: most reviews are saying the 6p camera is really great. I've heard the Pure has a decent camera, but I haven't heard as many glowing reviews. Coming from a G4, I don't want a huge step back.

Other thoughts :

I don't care about fingerprint sensor. I'm unlikely to use it anyway.

I usually end up buying a clear thin case. I like if my phone looks good, but the material it's made of of isn't that important since it's in the case.
I usually only hold onto phones for a year, so I don't care about whether there will be software updates 3 years from now.

Amy thoughts?

Well you're choosing two good phones. I went with the Moto.

I like the overall size better, the Moto features, the LCD display vs AMOLED....

Yeah, I like the Moto

I also went Moto. I don't trust Huawei, don't care about fingerprint scanners, wanted removable storage, and PRICE.

Well, you made a pretty decent comparison by yourself.
Moto X camera is very good, but 6P is better in low light. If camera is really really important, 6P wins.
Updates 6p hands down.
Performance wise, unless you play games I don't believe you will notice anything world shattering. And coming from a G4, MXPE will be an improvement.
Fingerprint scanner, never used one, not a fan of one. People having them like them, but I really love the Moto Display and unlocking from there is so easy that I wouldn't care less for the scanner.
It's up to what is more important for you. You should check your priorities and accordingly decide.

Yeah, it really comes down to removable storage and price vs fast updates and camera.

Moto's updates come much faster than most anything but the nexus. The 810 has a slight edge in performance, but it's not much of an edge. And it loves to throttle performance at the drop of a hat. I don't think the 810 is worth the extra money. And losing the SD card is wicked blow if you go with Nexus.

The nexus 6p advantage is more for a hard core gamer. If you like media more such as movies or music, the MPE offers storage, big screen for less money and only a slight diminishing of performance.

The price premium for the 6P is hard to justify. The 6P was a phone I seriously considered. But the poor track record of the 810 and the lack of storage clinched the deal in favor of the Pure Edition. And the monetary factors were icing for me to spend on a nice big 128 GB card, some Maker customizations and still have some cash left over.

Looks like the $50 credit on Amazon is through 12/31, so I have a little bit of time to decide. I can also wait and see if either the 6p goes on sale by then or if Motorola does a discount so that I could use Motomaker. I'm in no rush. The only risk is that my G4 could go down in value.

Why am I not seeing the 32gb for 399 on amazon? Am I to late? I see the 16gb for 390 instead of 399..hmm..
Nevermind, had to add to cart

If you look lower down the page it will describe the promotion. If you cant see that, then go ahead and add it to your cart and you will see the credit removed.

I am same boat, down to 6P or Pure, leaning not towards Pure. I don't know if there are more 6P's or the owners are more vocal but seems like a lot of issues with the phone if you follow their sub forum, kind of making me back away from that phone. I am just waiting for a deal on the Pure now.

There is an amazon deal on the pure. The 16GB is $15 off and the 32GB is $50 off. You have to get to the checkout page to see the discount. Still have a 32GB sitting in my cart but I can't pull the trigger.

Ended up ordering the MXPE. I couldn't justify the extra $100 for the 6p, and I've had Moto X's in the past and have always liked them.

LOL, and the Nexus 6p is now $50 off, so I'm returning the Moto X back to Amazon (it hasn't even arrived yet).

If you refuse the Amazon order you won't have the hassle of printing labels, etc. Next week...

How do you refuse the order? I'll be at work and I don't think it requires a signature.

If you are unable to be there when it's delivered I believe you can take the unopened box back to the carrier.
