I've got an off-contract t-mobile unit that I'm using on AT&T without issue (made with the moto maker about a week or so ago). The nice part about the T-mo Moto X is that it's completely unbranded, and has the Kit Kat update ;).

Yes, the T-mobile version is totally unlocked and unbranded. There's no trace of carrier interference anywhere. It's also got the same radios as the GSM dev edition, so getting a moto maker T-mobile version is kinda like having a customized dev edition (the bootloader is also supposed to be unlockable on it).

Very good info. Thanks !

I'm using an unlocked X on att and I received the kitkat update a week or two ago, haven't updated yet though

Q10, HTC One, Nexus 7, Moto X

I was interested in unlocked at&t models on other carrier's networks.
Then I read that the T-Mobile one has the same radios and it's unlocked and got the update.
Thanks all of you.

I thought all the carriers had Kitkat now?

Anyone else can confirm that the T-Mobile version is completely unlocked? Is there an official source? I spoke to Motorola a few days ago and they told me it would be locked to T-Mobile and I'd have to go through them to have it unlocked.

In one of the podcasts i think jerry said that you have to have an at&t Sim card to get the update.
If I buy one I'll go with the T-Mobile one, that should work here in Europe.

Nope. As of this post, KitKat isn't yet on the Sprint variant.

I don't think it's been pushed to Canada yet either.

That's pretty funny that they said that, but it doesn't seem to be true. I don't know if you can get one in a T-mo store and have it be unlocked (if you can even get one in a T-mo store -- I've never looked), but as I said -- I bought one a couple of weeks ago, used the moto maker & it's totally unlocked and unbranded out of the box. I'd read countless posts on XDA stating the same thing, which is why I bought the T-mo one in the first place. I don't like branded phones, but I didn't want the dev edition, either.
