Moto X will not charge w/o reboot

Since the lollipop update, my Moto X will stop taking a charge at random times. This has happened 4 times now, so it is not a constant problem. The last time just happened this morning.

I don't get any error messages, but the battery icon wont show as charging when I plug it into any charger. The power will continue to drain down. This was a big problem when I docked it, and my dock kept the screen on.

Once I power down the phone, it will start charging immediately.

Anyone else experience this?

Have you tried a different charger/cable? Any chance the phone is hot?

Yes, I should've clarified, when I tried different chargers, it was with different cables as well.

Yesterday my phone was not running hot, and seemed to be behaving normal other than not getting it to charge.

As far as hardware, I'm sure my 2 year old charging port has some wear and tear, but that wouldn't make sense that a reboot makes it work.

I hate to say it, because I know it's redundant, but I'd say factory reset.
