Moto X: Wooden Backs Prone to Cracking?

I am wondering if the new wooden backs will be prone to cracking as any thin piece of wood could be especially if you drop it or over time?

They sure look very nice!

Too early to tell. Hopefully some brave soul does a drop test or ifixit.

Great question... i read somewhere that the wood was injected with a resin to give strength and some moisture resistance. Not sure where i saw this. Would like some confirmation as i am planning to order one.

I'm interested in what kind of finish the wood has. Is it highly lacquered like wood trim in a car? Or is a more oil like finish that feels like wood. Pictures don't look especially like shiny so I'm assuming not a car like finish. I've done a lot of woodworking with veneers and other thin wood. I wonder about cracking, but no so much from drops, rather from the wood drying out.
