I haven't seen a thread like this so thought I would post one!

I've had a few phones recently (as always I change a lot) and have had the HTC 10, Galaxy S7 Edge, Nexus 5X, Moto X Pure and S6 Edge all since the S6 Edge was released. Some I've liked (S7 Edge) and some I've hated (Moto X Pure and HTC 10) but my favourite, the Moto Z! Here's some reasons why:

Styling and build are great.
The screen is up there with the S7.
It's fast, really snappy.
The camera is responsive and picture come out well for me.
For the size of the battery, battery life is outstanding!
The potential for mods and styling

I'm so pleased with this phone, I'm even going (probably) ignore the Nexus/Pixel release which for me is unusual as the Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P are the only ones I haven't had!

Anyway, look forward to your thoughts.

This (Z Force) is my first step away from Samsung in a very long time. I was a diehard Blackberry fan, then got my hands on an S3. I feel totally in love with that massive screen. Quickly moved to the Note 2 and have had every Note since.

I traded the Note 7 in about two weeks ago due to the battery issue and my Verizon rep ask me what I'd like to use while waiting for the Note 7 re-release. I had already done a bit of research and thought my best choice would be the Z Force. I went with the Force over the Z for the larger internal battery and the shattershield. I think it's nice that moto has both devices and leave it to the user to decide which works best for them.

It has been quite the eye opener for me (seeing something not Samsung). You know the saying "you don't know what you don't know". As I started setting up my new moto Z Force, I started to see what was meant by people that would say my Note lagged. I never really thought much of it until I spent a few days playing around with a device so smooth. I'm definitely not knocking the Note line and I am one that thought I could never live without the spen. Samsung makes an awesome phone with a lot of great features. But now that I know, I just don't think I could give up on a device as smooth and trouble free as this.

I just installed my Verizon flexible glass protector and my newly designed two-tone black bumper today (it's really starting to become mine, no going back now). My leather style back will be in early next week and I'll be all set. I have the JBL Soundblaster and the Tumi battery mods. I don't use them as much as I thought I would, but just knowing I have them for when I need them is what counts for me.

Anyway, this phone has shown me what Android can be.

I usually buy nexus phones every year but I don't see myself getting one this year. Moto Z is basically stock with the added features of the moto app and moto mods, so I don't really see anything that the nexus/pixel phone will give me that the Moto Z doesn't have.

^ Faster updates, but I think that's becoming overrated.
Agree, use to be if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Then everyone needed the latest updates. As long as we get security updates in a timely manner I'll be happy.

Plus, the Moto Z line seems to run perfectly with Marshmallow.

I'm really glad to hear this. I loved my Moto X and bought a Note 7. Good god is that phone slow. I bought a Honor 8 to use while I figure out what to do next. It's easily 3x faster than the Note 7...you can tell the difference right away. I do miss a big screen...this 5.2" just isn't cutting it, so looks like the Unlocked Moto Z will be my next phone ( I have T-Mobile). Only bad thing is that $699 price tag...ouch! But I think it will be great having the Z with a wireless charging battery mod.

I was diehard blackberry until I was basically forced to switch over to at the time the original iPhone 5. I've been diehard Apple exclusively until this year. Not sure why but I decided to see what Android was like. I started off with the Samsung s6. It was okay but something about it just wasn't my smooth Apple. Then I decided to give the original Droid turbo a try. I ended up keeping that phone. I actually still think today it can easily still compete with current day flagships. I realized then it was a matter of software interface. Samsung is choppy, sticky and clicky. Motorola is much like all I knew which was IOS and it's seamless interface. Then I tried the LG G5. It was decent. Tried Samsung again with both s7 models. They didn't last long. Samsung is nice but their interface is the worst I've used. My Z Force has been a awesome phone and it's one I'll keep for a while. At the end of the day, the Droid turbo to me was the best Android experience ever. Z Force is very similar

Updates were always a factor for me but I think that the mobile phone landscape has plateaued recently. I have Nougat on my Nexus 9 and it isn't much of an upgrade to Marshmallow to be honest. I rarely use split screen mode for example and still prefer to multitask quickly with the app switcher.

I also don't think there will be anything hardware-wise on the Pixel phones which bests the Moto or again will be earth-shattering.

I honestly believe I'll stay put for a while.
