Moto Z play Wifi is always on even when i turn it off

Hi i have motorola moto z play and i have this problem , in settings in battery options when i go to see which apps use most of my battery and what is my screen on time i always se that my biggest energy drain is on wifi and it showed there that wifi is even using battery when i turn it of and it is like it is always on for example my battery lasts about two days and last time when i charged my phone i decide to test it it i hade wifi off all the time i was using my phone but when battery was low and it was time to charge it again i went to batery settings and my phone showed that biggest drain was wifi and that i was using it over 40 hours and it was off all the time any help?
